About Jacksonville
Jacksonville, Florida, was founded in 1822 and incorporated in 1832, originally named Cow Ford before being renamed after Andrew Jackson, the seventh U.S. president. Duval Street and Duval County honor William Pope Duval, the first territorial governor. As one of Florida's oldest towns, Jacksonville has a rich history, including its role in the Civil War and southern rock music. Notably, it has the youngest demographics in the state, with an average age of 36. The city boasts the largest urban park system in the U.S., encompassing 80,000 acres, including James Weldon Johnson Park, the first established park. Covering 840 square miles, Jacksonville is the largest city by landmass in the continental U.S., featuring 1,100 miles of shoreline and 22 miles of beaches. The Great Fire of 1901, ignited by a spark from a chimney, devastated 146 city blocks and caused approximately $15 million in damages, equivalent to around $2 billion today. The city rebuilt, aided by architect Henry John Klutho, with several of his structures, including the Carnegie Library, still standing. Jacksonville is a vital part of American history and deserves to shine.

B.O.A.T.T. - Blessing Others All The Time
B.O.A.T.T. has been active in the Jacksonville area for over a decade, helping the homeless, veterans, seniors, and other under-served communities in a number of ways. In 2021, they served over 1,000 Thanksgiving meals and provided two hundred individual gifts for Christmas. Since the pandemic, they have only expanded their efforts, providing essential resources to even more individuals in need. In addition to providing food for those who are hungry, they help individuals obtain birth certificates, driver’s licenses, personal care items, and even hotel rooms. They believe that everyone deserves a hot meal and a roof over their head and we couldn’t agree more. We are very proud and grateful to have worked with such a generous charity.
First Coast Community Development
Like many other places, Jacksonville has a substantial homeless community. First Coast Community Development is a non-profit dedicated to helping those less fortunate individuals by providing hot meals, shelter, and medical services. They offer a full service clinic with a focus on HIV and other venereal diseases. They are not just looking to feed and heal the homeless, but also restore their dignity and hope. They’re a wonderful organization that we’re honored to have worked with.
